The Adams Family Foundation of Nora Springs, Iowa

HISTORY
The Adams Family Foundation of Nora Springs, Iowa is a private foundation dedicated to enhancing the quality of community life in Nora Springs and the surrounding community. Programs that enrich the community and promote excellence in education through scholarships are considered of prime importance.
John R. Adams established the Adams Family Foundation of Nora Springs, Iowa in 2006. The Foundation was created to provide the John R. Adams Academic Scholarship to a graduate of the original Nora Springs-Rock Falls School District who showed academic promise. John valued the importance of education, particularly the academics. He wanted to help the youth of the Nora Springs area with the hope that these individuals would, eventually, return to the community. John enjoyed the challenge of helping others reach their potential.
John graduated from Nora Springs High School, attended Drake University, and graduated from the University of South Florida. John's business career in Florida spanned over 40 years as a stock broker and financial advisor.
Although John settled in Florida he always felt that his roots were in Iowa where his grandparents were among the early settlers in Nora Springs. Each spring and fall John looked forward to spending time in Nora Springs; he especially enjoyed having breakfast with local farmers and keeping up with the latest farm and political news. Several years ago the family farm received the designation of Century Farm, indicating that it has been owned by the same family for over 100 years.
John retired in 2000 to devote more time to his many interests. Upon Johns' passing the Adams Family Foundation of Nora Springs, Iowa expanded the scholarship program and began providing charitable grants for projects that benefit the local community.
